Mai Khao Beach is one of the most natural and quietest areas of Phuket and hopefully will remain so for many years to come. We are directly by the beach where there is no road so you will not be disturbed by noisy traffic and although we are only a few kilometers from the airport you you cannot hear the aircraft. No nightclubs, girlie bars, annoying touts, shopping malls, western supermarkets, beach vendors or plastic sun beds & umbrellas here, just Phuket the way it used to be before the greedy developers arrived to destroy much of this most beautiful island. It is our policy to operate using environmentally friendly practices as much as possible. All building and fittings are recently constructed so you can be sure of clean & presentable facilities.
Our fully licensed Seaside Restaurant & Bar offers a full range of Thai and International dishes all home cooked with fresh local ingredients of the best quality. Open daily from November-April
The many kilometers of deserted beach characterize Mai Khao where there is little tourist business. The water is fine for swimming during the dry season November to May and you are guaranteed temperatures in the 30's. Because of it's remote location, there is very little development along the beach, so if you are in search of a quiet and isolated beach for yourself, this is it. This beach is highly recommended for just relaxing, walking on the sand or combing the beach for shells. Swimming is ok during most of the high season when the waves are much smaller or even non existent. The best time to visit is from November to April when the sea is calm and there is very little rain.
Forget the ugly hotels, tour groups, tacky theme parks, freak shows and animals in cages, this is the place to experience the true nature of Phuket.
Enjoy the company of our friendly staff and other guests from many different countries. Read one of your favorite books or choose one from our ever expanding library. Sample some of the local spicy food from our extensive menu or if Thai cuisine is not for you we also offer a good choice of Western food including the ever popular 'Chip Butty'.
Relax in a deckchair with only the sound of the ocean waves and a cold beer or fresh fruit shake, take a leisurely stroll along the beach where you will be able to walk for hours and hardly see anyone else on the way even in 'High Season'.
During the evening you can sit back and enjoy the amazing sunsets have dinner in our restaurant or even build your own campfire and watch the flames burn into the early hours. When the weather is good at weekends, we have regular barbecues and provide trips to the night market in Phuket town. We can show you the quieter side of Phuket and Phang Nga province where there are many local villages, traditional outdoor markets, viewpoints & nature reserves.
Local activities include walking, cycling, nature trails around the mangrove forest, bird watching, swimming, paddling, sunbathing. relaxing in the shade, fishing from the beach or in a longtail boat around some remote islands. The choice is yours, you can cut yourself off from the outside world or take advantage of the many options available at this ever popular tourist destination.
Public transport in Phuket is still very limited especially in this area. However if you wish to explore further afield motorbikes are available nearby for hire @ 10 USD/day and a taxi is only a phone call away. The cost per hour for a private car with driver (up to 4 passengers) is around 12 USD You can of course drive your own hire car for around 30 USD per day. Please remember to apply for an international driving permit before you leave your own country as you will not be insured without one and may be liable for the cost of any damage. We can arrange transport for you to visit other locations around the island and the mainland to see some of Thailand's most beautiful scenery. Phang Nga bay is only a short drive from here and you can take a private boat to James Bond island and ancient caves around one of the most scenic provinces of Thailand.
If you are short of time or prefer an organized tour, there are many companies to choose from in Phuket. However many have little or no regard for protection of the environment and we do not recommend looking for the cheapest day trips.
